Surface Preparation

The technique of surface preparation uses a wide variety of pressures, flows and nozzle designs which removes a huge variety of products. Depending on what you want to remove depends on the type of nozzle you use. The best nozzle for surface cleaning is the Stoneage 1200 BAR twin nozzle rotary jet. It has a far more aggressive cut than the Munro nozzle due to its slower speed. Hydro-Demolition Advantages

Hydro-Demolition is a process with which concrete can be removed using high pressure water jets. It has many different advantages compared to other concrete removal methods, five of these are:

1.      Minimal vibration to the operator

2.      No loose or damaged concrete on the edge of breakout area

3.       No damage to steel reinforcing

4.      Removal of concrete around dense reinforcing (impossible using air breakers)

5.      Thorough washing / self cleaning of breakout area

However it was later studied that it would be more cost effective to eliminate the entire east and west piers by hydro-demolition and rebuild them in stages.
